Liverpool In English Premier League 2020
After 30 years of waiting and thanks to an admirable season, Liverpool won the top English football flight. It required five years of work under Coach Jürgen Klopp's direction to reach a champion level. And it seems that this team can follow giving titles to their fans for some years more. The 2019/20 Liverpool season was impressive. With 99 points, they got the second biggest amount of points in English Premier League history. Besides the English Premier League 2019/20, this squad won the 2019 Champions League, the Europe Super Cup, and the Clubs’ World Championship. This legendary team enchained 44 matches without losing and had the best season start in football history.
So, there are good reasons for Klopp thinking to maintain the same squad. He trusts them because he led them to be the team they are now. But, to keep the last year's winning and scoring rhythm won't be easy. Moreover, other clubs prepared seriously to fight with them for the title. So, anybody could think they should reinforce their lines. However, the German coach and Liverpool board preferred to make only a few changes. They keep the team's core and adding left-back Kostas Tsimikas, midfielder Thiago Alcántara, and forward Diogo Jota. Tsimikas and Jota will rest to the line-up regulars, while Thiago can have a more starring role.
Salah, Mané, and Firmino form up the attack again. The defense is solid, thanks to Van Dijk and Alisson. They are among the bests players in the world in their positions. In front of them will be Fabinho and Henderson controlling the medullar zone. Besides, along the flanks, they have Alexander-Arnold and Robertson. They are probably the league’s best couple of right and left-backs. As news for this season, we would see Minamino having more playing time with other promising young players such as Curtis Jones and Neco Williams.
Liverpool Footballers To Watch
Mohamed Salah: The Egyptian is the reference in attack and the maximum star of this team. Klopp uses him more and more as a center-forward, given his effectiveness in front of the goal. However, as a winger, he remains a threat to rival defenses. He plays with ease in any of these positions, and his role will be crucial to the team's aspirations.
Trent Alexander-Arnold: He became an irreplaceable piece on this team. From the bottom of the right flank, he can create many plays and opportunities. He was the best assistant on the team for the second consecutive season. At just 21 years old, he has a bright future.
Andrew Robertson: He was the second player with the most assists for Liverpool in the last two seasons. This Scottish left-back has a complex game system with many strengths.
Liverpool Goal For The 2020/21 Season
As in the last two seasons, Liverpool should aim to win both the EPL and the Champions League. Despite not having a long squad, he has been aiming for these goals since 2018. The Merseyside squad has what it takes to keep at the highest level for at least two years more. Reaching these goals will not be easy. However, they have a coach who demands excellence from his players. This philosophy has been the key to the success of this club in recent years. And he will not demand less from his players this new season. If there is one thing for sure, the Reds will offer a fight to the end.
